The Humane Solution to Hamilton County’s Pet Overpopulation Crisis

  • Executive Director - Tammy Sollenberger

      Resident of Hamilton County for 35 years. A life-long animal lover, she initiated the Hamilton County Animal Task Force and served as a member for two years addressing three main issues: better funding for the Hamilton County Humane Society, rewriting all of the Hamilton County ordinances for animals, and developing plans for a high volume, low-cost spay neuter clinic. She has trapped and sterilized feral cats in Hamilton County for many years. By attending conferences and visiting spay-neuter clinics, she has gained knowledge to extensively study the pet overpopulation problem in Hamilton County. She has been a volunteer and a staff member at FACE Low Cost Spay-Neuter Clinic in Indianapolis and has worked in all aspects of the business, including assisting in the operating room, recovery, scheduling, and office management.

       

  • President - Joe Loughmiller

      Joe Loughmiller graduated from Ball State University with a BS in radio and television studies and journalism. From 1987 to 2000 he worked in media relations for the City of Indianapolis. He also served as communications director for American Water and is now Manager of Corporate Communications for ADESA, Inc., Carmel, IN. He is a recent graduate of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy where his group focused on pet overpopulation in Hamilton County. He has served as public information committee chair for the American Water Works Assoc., Indiana section, on the board of directors of Earth Day Indiana, and the board of directors of the Riley-Lockerbie Kiwanis Club."

       

  • Secretary and Director - Velda Boenitz

      Resident of Hamilton County, IN for 32 years. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and Indiana University in Bloomington and Indianapolis, IN and was office manager for The Hon. William I. Garrard at the Indiana Court of Appeals for 26 years. She joined the board of directors of Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana in 1978 and served in various capacities, including president, fund raising chairman, and public relations vice president. In 1984, she founded the Hamilton County Humane Society and served as public relations director, fund raising chairman, president, and was a member of the board of directors for 10 years. She was a member of the organizing board of directors of the FACE Spay-Neuter Clinic in Indianapolis, IN and served for five years, helping with fundraising, organization and opening of the clinic.

       

  • Treasurer - Ron Kielkowski

      Resident of Hamilton County for 17 years. Ron graduated from Purdue University with a BS in electrical engineering. In 1988, Ron started and currently still runs a U.S.-based consulting business for the electronics industry, RCG Research, Inc. Ron was President of Trabuco Technologies from 2000 to 2003 and Chairman of the Board of Christ in You ministries from 2001 until 2004.  In 1990, Ron was involved in the original formation of the FACE low-cost spay neuter clinic in Indianapolis and has taken over as treasurer of the Hamilton County Low-Cost Clinic in honor of his late wife Christine.

       

  • Advisory Board - Myron Frank

      Resident of Hamilton County for 36 years. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1950, with a degree in Accounting. He became a CPA in Ohio in 1962 and worked in public accounting for six years. He was also DOD auditor for 30 years and a member of the AICPA. His other responsibilities include VITA tax preparer for the Noblesville Library, treasurer of the Carmel Clay Kiwanis Club, past treasurer of Hamilton County Meals on Wheels, past vice-president and treasurer of Hamilton County Humane Society. He set up the accounting system, advised the treasurer and prepared taxes for the FACE Low-Cost Spay-Neuter Clinic, Indianapolis, for several years.
